Sick. Ill. Disease.

I've been reading some other blogs and a lot of people write "chronically ill" or I'm sick" or "my disease", there a bunch of other but you get the idea.  I personally don't feel sick, ill and especially not diseased!  When I think of diseased I think of someone who's contagious and i am pretty sure I have not shared my kidney failure with anyone. 

I prefer to think of myself as broken. Like a broken, toy...get some glue and its all better. Or a broken little red wagon....slap that wheel back on and everything's better.  I just need to get a new part.  Like a car!!!!

I need a new " fuel pump" so I can "go" again!

Finally Friday

Its Friday!!! Week 4(!) Of dialysis. I actually look forward to the weekends now, even if its mostly cleaning and laundry.  In some weird way I enjoy the energy I have now to do the cleaning and the laundry.  Its scary to walk across the room and get winded. And I had now idea how bad I felt until I started to feel better. 

Now that I'm up to week 4 and have some energy, I want to do something with it.  So, i'm going to do a photo-a-day challenge during ALL the years of dialysis.  I'll try to post them here but you can always follow me at Instagram at kidneykate

Cut the crap

So, as we all know waiting for a kidney is no fun.  I've had two fistula surgeries and thankfully the second one is still humming along.  Dialysis starts in January and I'm not nervous about the sessions...I'm nervous about the side effects...i've heard people get migraines, are starving, low blood pressure, pass out and I even heard that you can possibly shit yourself....doesn't all that sound fabulous!?!?!?!   Ugh!!!!! I don't want to be starving and I certainly do not want to crap my pants!!! 

Our adventure have been pretty stale lately since we're poor and I need a freaking kidney.  Hiking is a no go since climbing the stairs feels like I ran a marathon!  We do mini trips...our love of the blue ridge parkway can't be stopped by a little kidney. 

Going back to that being poor thing...why does EVERYTHING  cost money? Want to lose weight? Healthy food costs more than all that delicious cruddy nutrition-less food.  What to spend time with your love?  The park?!?! No one wants to go to the park...coffee?? $$$...everything costs money!  And if your like me it seriously annoys me when people say they have "no money" but then go buy cigarettes/wine/lunch...when I say I have "no money" you can be sure that my bank account probably starts with $-!!  Lol.  There's a chance, if I'm lucky it might start with $0.! 

So, like I said "cut the crap"!  No shitting of the pants after/during dialysis and please if your broke...you better actually be broke!!

Kidney

Keeping up with this blog has been so hard lately. I am waiting for ANOTHER kidney. I'm a bit nervous but i thought i would document the process so if anyone else is reading this and going thru the same thing it might help.

Its be a fun filled few months.  I had a kidney rejection, spent a few weeks getting treatment for that, had a picc line inserted and now thankfully things seem to be looking up.

We got married!!  It was perfect.  It rained, there was a rainbow, people cried with joy, it was everything we hoped it would be and so much more.

Our honeymoon in Orlando was amazing!  The weather was perfect.  Mine got a cold while we were there and then i caught it.  He did an exotic driving experience at the Disney Speedway, it was so cool too see him that excited.  My big day was EPCOT! I ate my way around the world at the food and wine festival! YUM!

And as i type this there is a tiny 10 week old kitten trying to help my type.  The newest member of our family, Addie.  She;s tine and gray and is the smallest little love bug!

Like i said its been a busy few months, with any luck things will slow down a bit and i can catch up on life!

Oh and I became an Aunt!!  My brand new sister in law had a baby girl, Paisley!

Adventure Friday

I spent the day shopping with with my future mother in law and future sister n law.  I got my wedding shoes!  Soooo Pretty!  So glad they turned out so great!

I got a job, so i had to buy some pants, which is always a projects since I'm short and fat! I found 3 pairs!!

I also found my favorite shampoo at Ulta!  I had no idea there was an Ulta anywhere near here.  I was so excited to see it!!  Redken Hair Cleansing Cream, my absolute favorite shampoo!  LOVE IT!  My hair always feels so clean after i use it!

On top of shopping we had lunch at Ruby Tuesdays.  And ice Cream at Ben and Jerry's.

All in all it was an awesome day!

ENGAGED!!!

Well, it's been a while and there is so much going on.  Me and Mine got engaged!!  Wedding planning is going really well.  Stressful at times but i'm told that's normal.  We are also looking for a new home.  We may have found it yesterday!  Here's hoping!  We've had a few more adventures.. more waterfalls, some hiking, always some shopping.  I found my wedding dress, wedding shoes, wedding purse!!
